If you are a virtual assistant should you supplement your service income with products? That’s a question the Virtual U. blog is asking. Well, it’s a very good question and there are pros and cons.

On the one hand, conventional marketing techniques are best left to conventional businesses. A virtual assistant business in conventional in some sense, but you likely will do a lot of your business through the Internet and digital media. Therefore, t-shirts and coffee mugs might not be the best way to promote your VA business.

On the other hand, what if you made t-shirts and coffee mugs for your clients with their logs on them along with yours? You could offer those t-shirts for free as a perk for doing business with you. That way, you are promoting your clients as well as yourself and whenever they display their products they are promoting you.
