When the housing market gets a bit slow and the prices seem to be dropping, one of the things that a lot of sellers are going to start to think about going it alone as a chance to keep as much of their home equity as possible. The problem that a lot of sellers who decide to sell without a real estate agent face is that they don’t set the right price, they don’t know how to market their home effectively, and they don’t know what it takes to get prospective buyers aware that the home is even for sale.
For some, the option is going to be to try it anyway and, if the for sale by owner route doesn’t work, they’ll turn to a real estate agent. For others, the reality is that they decide to just go with a real estate agent anyway to save themselves the hassle. There’s a third option though: selling with flat fee MLS.
When sellers focus on finding a broker who offers a flat fee service, they’ll be able to get the help that they need along the way, their home will be listed in the multiple listing service and they will still be able to reduce their costs drastically.
