Buying a Home: Taking Advantage of the Mortgage Situation

There are always going to be folks out there who caution you about the mortgage market and buying a home - and much of the information that you’re going to receive is going to be valid. But that doesn’t mean that you shouldn’t act.

According to some who are scanning the trends, it appears that now is a good time to at least look into buying a home:

(source)“Buyers who’ve been on the sidelines should take a closer look at what’s available to them now in terms of financing and incentives,” said Richard Gaylord, NAR president and a broker for Re/Max in California. The housing bill signed into law recently provides many of those incentives, including a $7,500 tax credit for first-time homebuyers.

It’s still a little harder to qualify for a mortgage than it has been as banks have tightened restrictions and are requiring loan applicants to provide proof of income before forking over cash. But it may be worth the extra effort.

One of the best things that you can do if you’re thinking about buying a home is going to be to sit down and talk with a lender. Another key thing? Finding the right real estate agent. When you’re working with the right agent, you’re going to find that it’s easier to get questions answered and to get into a home that will be ideal for you and your family.
